Overreacting

Playful overreaction is hilarious if done properly. Making jokes about how long something takes or how big something is and blowing it out of proportion is good material if delivered in a playful tone. It also works for less direct things.

Just take a look at a comic strip and look for easy, overreaction jokes in images. They only have three panels to work with, so it makes sense that they could go over the top with a couple strokes of the pen and it would be funny.

For example, Garfield eats an unhealthy, generally impossible amount of food – often times in the form of cheesy goodness that should have killed him 20 years ago. That cat is like 32 years old and he just keeps eating. How the heck is that possible? I don’t know, but a lot of people over the years have found it quite funny (note: not everyone thinks Garfield is funny).
